Legal
Privacy policy
Short, plain-English and honest.
Hopbine Design is run by Joe Sutherland, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. I am the data controller for any personal information you share through this website. If you have a question about your data, email hello@hopbinedesign.co.uk.
What I collect
When you use the contact form, I collect:
- your name, email address and message
- your business name and the service you're interested in, if you give them
- your IP address, which is used to block spam and is included in the email I receive
I don't collect anything else through this website.
Why I use it
I use your details only to reply to your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, to provide my services. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact me, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. Your IP address is used under my legitimate interest in keeping the form free of spam and abuse.
I never sell your data or use it for marketing lists.
Where it's stored
Your message is stored in two places, both provided by Hostinger, my web and email host:
- my business email inbox
- a private backup copy on my web server, kept in case an email goes missing. It is not publicly accessible and does not include your IP address.
Hostinger acts as my data processor under its standard data processing terms.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiries for up to 12 months. Backup copies older than 12 months are deleted automatically, and I delete old enquiry emails by hand. If we work together, I keep the details I need for the project and for my business and tax records for as long as the law requires.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and does not use third-party analytics.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data I hold about you, or object to how I use it. Email hello@hopbinedesign.co.uk and I'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
